Business Summary
Gunns Limited is an Australia-based hardwood and softwood forest products company. It operates within three segments: Forest products, Timber products and Other activities. The Forest products division focuses on forestry and plantation management and the processing and sale of wood fibre. The Timber products division is engaged in the processing, manufacture and sale of sawn timber, veneers and other timber products. The Company’s other activities include merchandising, finance, construction and responsible entity (RE) services, vineyard management and wine production and sale. During the fiscal year 2009/2010, the Company acquired the ITC Hardwood timber business with manufacturing locations in Victoria and two in Tasmania. Gunns Limited operates through approximately 40 entities mainly in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In March 2011, UBS AG and related bodies corporate have ceased to be a substantial holder of the Company.

BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 30 June 2011, Gunns Limited's revenue decreased 44% to A$172.7M. Net loss from cont. operation increased from A$2.6M to A$168.3M. Revenue reflects a significant decrease in revenue from timber products and an decrease in revenue from other segment. Higher loss reflects an presence of loss form change in fair value of financial instruments & loss from change in of biological assets and increase in assets impairments.
