The Company operates in four divisions: IGA Distribution ((IGA>D), Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM), Campbells Wholesale and Mitre 10. Through Australian Liquor Marketers, Metcash also operates in New Zealand. Metcash’s customers are independently owned grocery, liquor stores and independent hardware stores. The Company’s food distribution activities comprise the distribution of grocery and tobacco supplies to retail outlets, convenience stores and hospitality outlets. Its liquor distribution activities comprise the distribution of liquor products to retail outlets and hotels. Its cash and carry distribution comprises the distribution of grocery and tobacco supplies through cash and carry warehouses. In September 30, 2011, the Company acquired Franklins Chain of supermarkets.

BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 30 April 2011, Metcash Limited's revenues increased 7% to A$12.46B. Net income increased 6% to A$241.4M. Revenues reflect an increase in income from food distribution, cash & carry distribution and hardware segments of the group. Net income was partially offset by an increase in distribution expenses, higher finance costs, the presence of franklins acquisition cost and increased administrative costs.
